The Beginner's Guide to Wolves of Iria (WoI)
Welcome to Wolves of Iria, an online forum roleplaying community! This is where you can find tips on how to get started here at WoI. Before we begin, be sure to have a look at the Rules of Conduct. I know they are rather long and not pleasant to read, but believe it or not, they are there for your safety so that you don't get in trouble for anything and to keep something bad from happening to you. When you're done here, please feel free to leave any feedback or suggestions you have that may improve this thread.
All right, got that out of the way? Good! Let's begin.
About the Site
I'm Raksha, the creator and owner of this website. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to private message any of the staff or visit Support & Suggestions in the Assembly Den.
Joining the Roleplay
To join the roleplay, you must first make an account if you haven't already. If you are registered, then you can head on over to Pack Selection where you can fill out and post a form requesting entry into one of the four wolf packs you can join. Instructions for posting a form and the form itself can be found here. For more information on the packs, be sure to check out the thread about the packs and lone wolves. There, you will find out information about each of the 4 packs and, if you don't want to join a pack, about being a lone wolf. When your application is filled out and posted correctly, a moderator or staff member will look at it. If you are accepted, it will be moved to the Accepted Applications board. If it isn't, it will be marked as not accepted and you will receive a private message or a reply on your thread telling you why, but hopefully that won't happen. Finally, once you've been accepted into a pack or as a lone wolf, you can start posting in the roleplay boards.
The Four Great Packs
Around this site, it will be common to come across terms such as "The Four Great packs" or "The Great Four." This is in reference to the four packs you are able to join here on Wolves of Iria. The packs are Aenor, Novak, Zayev, and Kaios. The wolves of each pack tend to share certain traits and appearances. Information on the packs can be found in the Packs & Lone Wolves thread located in the Pack Selection board. When you join a pack, you will have access to certain boards and pages for that pack that others who are not in the pack are not able to access. For example, you will see another link appear in the Navigation bar (the bar just below the banner) that says "Pack ________," the blank space being for whatever pack you joined. This link leads to a page with information about your pack, including famous wolves of the pack, the pack banner and motto, etc. You will also see another section appear in the forum, a section just you and other members of your pack can access where you can relax and chat.
What does WoI mean?
WoI is an abbreviation for the name of this site, Wolves of Iria.
How do I Change my Avatar?
To change your avatar, click on the "Profile" button in the navigation bar. From your profile page, you will see a button in the top right-hand corner of your profile that says "Edit Profile." The first page to pop up will be the page where you can change your avatar. You can either upload/link an an avatar, choose one of the forum avatars, use ProBoard's Default Avatar, or click "No Avatar (Default Setting)" for the forum theme's default avatar. Basically, to simplify things, it's (Profile > Edit Profile).
I Don't Like the Way the Forum Looks. Can I Change It?
The answer is: yes, you can. The way the forum looks is called a theme, and you can change the theme by going to the settings tab under the "Edit Profile" button (Profile > Edit Profile > Settings). If you scroll down, there should be a drop-down menu with names (i.e. Aenor, Novak, Forest). These are the names of different themes. Choose a theme and then scroll down and click "Save Account Settings," then your theme will be saved and the forum will appear with different colors and images.
What are the Colored Usernames I See?
The members with colored usernames are either moderators or staff who watch over the forum. Alphas (or admins) are dark blue, betas are green, council members (advisors) are teal, and moderators are purple.
Well, now you have the basics for getting started here on Wolves of Iria. If you have any further questions or concerns, don't hesitate to send a private message to any of the staff. You can also always visit Support & Suggestions.
I hope this short guide helped you at least in some way. I wish you luck in your endeavors here on Wolves of Iria!
Best regards,
Raksha
